Campaign for a Nuclear Weapons-Free World
This new coalition led by veterans of the peace and security field was in a pickle. The fall election was fast approaching, and the Web site intended to be the hub of its political work was still on the drawing board.

Hairpin’s Burton Glass was brought in to help the Campaign’s stretched staff. He cut the length of copy and gave it a younger tone to set the site apart from the dry approach typical of the field. He re-imagined the architecture so it was flatter and easier to follow. And he navigated the nitty-gritty among the graphic designer, CRM supplier and online press room vendor. (The site is scheduled to go live in mid-October.)
To raise the profile of the Campaign leading up to the site launch, Burton also crafted a new set of messages around the “anniversary of proliferation,” when the Soviets acquired the Bomb. He used it to pitch editors of major city newspapers across the country, resulting in spot-on editorials in the San Francisco Chronicle, (Portland) Oregonian and Des Moines Register.
